I have been in the Texas National Guard for 20 years, where I have served as a military police officer, aviation mechanic, and currently as a helicopter pilot for the past 12 years. I have been deployed twice flying UH-60’s conducting MEDEVAC in Iraq and Afghanistan. Currently I serve full-time with the National Guard as an aviation safety officer for the Texas counterdrug aviation element. I have been an aviation safety officer in the Army since 2010 with 2 units, where I am responsible for managing all safety aspects within the unit to include training, risk assessments, safety councils, regulatory requirements, and accident investigations. I recently obtained my masters of science in occupational safety management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and subsequently my GSP from BCSP. Within ASSE I also serve as vice chair on the ASSE foundations Next Generation Board (NGB). The NGB’s goal is to increase awareness of the Foundation’s purpose, encourage participation in the Foundation’s programs, and cultivate intergenerational connections within the Foundation community.
