2009-2010 Central Texas Chapter Officers

President - Scott Sloan

Scott is the Director of Loss Control for Service Lloyds Insurance Company. He holds a BS in Industrial Safety from the University of Central Oklahoma, and a Masters in Business from Amberton University in Garland, TX. His professional certifications include CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ARM (Associate In Risk Management), CRM (Certified Risk Manager), and CSHM (Certified Safety And Health Manager). Scott has 16 years in the safety and insurance field.

Scott has been a speaker at both regional and national ASSE conferences and at the national conference for the Institute for Safety and Health Management (ISHM). Scott has been a member of ASSE since 1997 and is currently the President-Elect for the Central Texas Chapter.

President-Elect - Dell Harrington, CSP

Dell joined TASB Risk Management Services as a Senior Loss Prevention Consultant in November 1993. Since that time, Dell has earned the prestigious certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and he has earned the ASSE’s Certificate in Executive Safety Management. In 2007, Dell was awarded the ASSE Central Texas Chapter Safety Professional of the Year (SPY) Award. Dell has been a member of ASSE since 1995. Dell is near completion of earning his ARM, Associate in Risk Management. He is responsible for providing loss prevention services to workers' compensation and property casualty members in ESC Regions 12, 13, 15, 18, 19, and 20. Dell's health, safety, and environmental experience began in 1980. He was employed by Halliburton Energy Services for 13 years, eight of which he was the health, safety, and environmental supervisor. He has extensive experience dealing with transportation and regulatory compliance reporting to the various state agencies. Dell is a graduate of Tarleton State University with a BS degree in Industrial Education and Technology. He taught Industrial Arts for four years with Morton ISD and Lubbock ISD.

Secretary - Keith Land, CSP

Keith is currently the Secretary for the Central Texas Chapter and has served in this capacity for the last two years. Keith has been a Member of ASSE since 1991 and a Professional Member since 1996.

Keith received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Technology from Texas A&M University in 1982 and began his safety career in 1983. In 1992, Keith earned the designation of Certified Safety Professional. Keith currently serves as the Corporate Safety Officer for the City of Austin. Other positions Keith has held in his career include Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, System Safety Engineer and Environmental, Health and Safety Manager. Previous employers include Texas Instruments, STMicroelectronics, Tokyo Electron Ltd. and Austin Energy.

Treasurer - Sharon Fisher, CSP

Sharon received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Houston - Clear Lake, in 1992 and her Masters of Science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Texas School of Public Health, in 1997. She worked in Houston for a packaging and drum recondonitioning facility before moving to Austin in late 1997. In Austin, she worked in the semiconductor industry at Tokyo Electron for over 8 years as an EHS Specialist and EHS Program Manager. Since 2006, she has been employed by Hospira as a Senior EHS Specialist. Hospira is a global specialty pharmaceutical and medication delivery company.

Prior to joining the ASSE, Sharon was an active member of the ACGIH and SESHA associations for many years. She served as a moderator and PDC co-chair at the annual SESHA symposiums and has presented white papers at SIA and SESHA conferences. She received her CSP certification in 2002 and has been a member of ASSE for 2 years.
