Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc. is located in San Antonio, Texas. The plant was established in October 2003 and production started in November 2006 at the 2,000 acre site where we produce the full size Tundra and Tacoma pick-up trucks. We employ 1,500 salaried and hourly employees with 21 suppliers located on-site that employ an additional 2,100 employees. Our manufacturing operations include Stamping, Body Weld, Assembly, Paint and Plastics. Non-manufacturing areas include Accounting & Finance, Human Resources, Ordering & Logistics, Production Planning, Purchasing, Quality and Safety.
We are currently seeking a Safety Ergonomics Specialist for our Health & Safety Department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support for TMC & TEMA Safety and Health Programs and Activities
- Participate in TEMA Ergonomic Working Groups and activities
- Lead contact for Ergonomics Cup Competition for TMMTX
- Lead contact for team member Health & Wellness activities and communications
- Implement the Toyota Ergonomic Program throughout the plant (Safety/Ergonomic Teams, Ergonomic Evaluation Tool Training, Audit Program, etc.)
- Manage the annual Safety Health & Wellness calendar project for the plant
- Maintain current TEBA ergonomic evaluations for all processes (develop tracking plan & KPI's, develop plan & strategy to maintain compliance and coordinate resources to evaluate new processes as needed)
- Oversee contractor for ESI and help identify kaizen areas in their processes
- Identify risks related to safety issues/conditions and prioritize and develop sustainable action plans to reduce and/or eliminate those risks (assist with Ergonomic countermeasures, Work Conditioning problems, etc. as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Safety or related field (or equivalent work experience) required
- 3-5 years Manufacturing Safety experience (Automotive preferred)
- 3-5 years General Safety experience to include extensive experience in ergonomic programs
- 3-5 years in a safety leadership role that shows an ability to manage multiple tasks, communicate to others with various technical backgrounds and ability to negotiate and adapt in a consensus building culture
- Prefer technical career with specialized knowledge in general OSHA safety and specific experience with Ergonomic analysis of processes and programs
- Five hours casual weekly overtime plus occasional daily overtime and/or weekends and holidays
- Travel approx.10% (domestic or international)
- Must support off shift as needed (approx. 1 week every 4-6 weeks)

Health, Safety & Environmental Director (8/9/10)

As an experienced safety professional, you will develop and implement the division’s HSE Management System procedures to assure the highest possible degree of employees’ safety.
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, the selected candidate will plan, utilize and support field operations by educating both managers and employees in work site safety practices and regulatory compliance. Specific duties will include ensuring all employees have current company and customer-mandated certificates, schedules training as required, and provides documentation of completion; administer the division’s random drug and alcohol testing program; inspect facilities/work sites to determine corrective or preventative measures; and support operations managers in the investigation and reporting of accidents and injuries. The HSE Director will manage HSE employees within a matrix organizational structure together with applicable Business Unit and Product Line Managers. The incumbent will also prepare and administer an annual budget for US operations. Excellent communications skills are essential as you will represent the organization in the community and at industry functions, meet with customers to present company and division safety programs, and develop customer-specific HSE plans.
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in related field and a minimum of 15 years experience in HSE, 5 of which are in a management position in offshore oil & gas industry.
- CSP/CSE designation mandatory.
- Has documented, relevant industry experience in the development and implementation of HSE management systems.
- Knowledge of word processing software; presentation software; spreadsheet software; internet software, and MS Outlook.
- Pass the required physical examination, including drug and alcohol screening.
- Pass a background check with no state or federal felony convictions.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s License and reliable transportation.

Electrical and Robotics Safety Specialist (8/3/10)
This position is located at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc. in San Antonio, TX. The purpose of the position is to provide safety support for both plant and production areas. This will be achieved through floor activities, team member involvement, regulatory knowledge and proactive activity. This position will also be required to support plant machine guarding, robot safety and electrical safety.
Responsibilities:
- Manage operation / function: 20%
- Shop support for Facilities, Body Weld, Paint, or Assembly areas.
- Machine guarding, robot and electrical safety.
- OSHA Compliance, safety audits, and incident investigations.
- Lead / manage team members: 20%
- No direct supports. However, team member leadership skills are required to influence team member behavior as it relates to Safety priorities and to interact with team members through Safety Task Force Groups, department meetings, incident investigations, etc.

Part Time Small Business Inspectors (7/8/10)
Visual Insurance Solution is an inspection service company that will be outsourcing small business inspections throughout the country. We are expecting to see more opportunities in the Austin, TX area and are looking for independent contractors to handle the inspections for us. We will pay between $50 and $60 per inspection depending on experience and quality of work. Once you are at the business, the survey should only take .5 hours (1/2 hour). HSE Director (6/2/10)
Location: Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas
Established U.S. multinational oilfield service firm is seeking an HSE Director to support its global operations. The global HSE Director is responsible for planning and optimizing the HSE operations of all Company facilities and overseeing HSE compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, standards, codes, and Company policies. The HSE Director is also responsible for the full integration of safety and environmental management into the Company’s operations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations pertaining to safety, health and environmental, representing the Company in all contact with regulatory agencies.
- Plan, implement and manage HSE policies, procedures and systems in compliance with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations and consistent with customer expectations.
- Lead the development and management of the Company’s safety management system as well as tracking and warehousing tools for the following: BBS Data Collection, MSDS and JSA’s.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to all HSE professionals throughout the Company.
- Implement, promote and efficiently manage all Company and OSHA mandatory training programs to provide for a safe, incident free workplace while protecting the environment.
- Prepare studies and analysis on industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by Company personnel and outside agencies.
- Inspect organization’s facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine preventive and corrective measures where indicated, and follow-up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Oversee the investigation of incidents and injuries and coordinate the preparation of material and evidence for organization use.
- Compile and submit incident and/or environmental reports required by corporation and regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate the administration of the Company’s worker’s compensation program with applicable internal and external stakeholders.
- Serves as the liaison with parent company Risk Management department, customers, regulatory agencies and outside vendors in the area of HSE.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited university.
- Minimum 10 years related management experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead a successful and robust HSE system in a multi-facility, multiple product line, manufacturing environment.
- Advanced analytical skills to determine root cause analysis and resolve operational failures and set a corrective action/course.
- Must be a driver of HSE requirements and capable of coordinating the design, build and implementation of quality HSE solutions.
- Must have demonstrated success in leading and managing systems and processes.
- Experience in dealing with ISNetworld, SafeGulf, PEC and/or other third party audit groups.
- Experience with vendor qualification protocols and customer audits.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and organizational skills and abilities.
- Experience dealing directly with major customers.
- HSE related certification(s) a plus (i.e. ASP, CSP, CWCP, PSM, CHMM/P, ISO 18001, etc.).
- Ability to travel as needed
