The Travis County (Austin, TX) Transportation and Natural Resources (TNR) Department is seeking a RISK/SAFETY SPECIALIST I to assist in the planning, development and implementation of the Department's work safety program.
Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting in the planning, development and implementation of the work safety program for the Transportation and Natural Resources Department.
Provides incident response and investigation; data collection, data entry, and generation of reports and trend analysis.
Coordinates fire drills; inspection of facilities, vehicles, equipment; assessment, maintenance, acquisition and inventory control of personal protective equipment (PPE) including management of associated database; development and presentation of safety training; maintenance of the hazard communication program; fire extinguisher program maintenance; coordinates safety recognition program, assists with the school crossing guard program.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Personnel Management, Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Environmental Sciences, Safety Engineering, Chemistry or a directly related field AND one (1) year of directly related demonstrated experience; OR, any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.

Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Valid Texas Driver's License.
